ADSL24 Problems

Hi,

Was wondering if i could get some advice?

I have 2 broadband lines in my house.

One being ADSL24 which works fine, and the other being Zen which was also working fine.

Though, 'cos of the cost and download limit of Zen i changed it to an ADSL24 line.

Previously on Zen i was getting a 15mg download speed. Now on my new ADSL24 line it's under 1mg download. I've tried 4 different routers being... Belkin, Dlink, Netgear and Linksys.

All routers synced at 15mg, but had a download speed of under 1mbit. For about 3 days i had 10mg on the line, but for the past week it's gone back down to under 1.

If the router syncs at 15mg, then why would i only get a download of 1?

The other ADSL24 line works great!

Any advice would be appreciated

Can you post the line stats of both the lines?

Very strange, if the sync is high then the actual speed should be fine, sounds like there is traffic management, but ADSl24 don't use it.

Bets to get in touch with ADSl24 to be honest. what ADSL24 service are you on?

And if they're both BT Wholesale products (and not one of ADSL24's LLU products) do a BT speedtest and post details of the IP profile for both lines.

I'm in an extremely strange situation. I tried my dlink router again the other day and magically it just worked, i received the full 15mg.

I then put the linksys back on and it was under a meg again.

Here's the strange part....

I have two lines which are C&W Home package.
On the working line I use a Linksys router. On the not working line i tried using an exact identical router, with all the same settings, (obviously different user/pass) and that doesnt work.

I will plug the Netgear in later tonight and get the stats of the line as i believe their stats are better than the stats received from the linksys.

It could be down to the chipset within the router not playing nicely. If the Netgear is an older v1/2/3 then it will perform poorly on ADSL2+ in general. You will need a v4 to give the best perform, the v5 isn't that good either but works better than v1/2/3.

Btw you don't need to change the username in the router when simply testing on your other line. Because it's a C&W service on both lines, it will allow the username to work on either line. Of course make sure each line is using it's correct username long term.
