vivaciti,
Having two lines might be useful Errm!
If you migrate the current broadband to vivaciti, you could go straight to the final package you want, without going through the C & W one for a month. Much less hassle, and no cancellation or exit fees anywhere.
As for the second line, BT will install that (phone only) for £30 on an 18-month contract.

Bob,
I wonder if vivaciti would cover the cost of a new second line and broadband activation on that line if one went full LLU on some sort of contract?
That way the only addition cost would be a cessation of broadband on the current line for £25.

Bob,
£78 for a new second line, £48 for activation, about £30 for unlimited broadband and line rental on a one month contract with vivaciti LLU.
So a second line installation on a BT contract would be cheaper than £78...all this not forgetting the cessation of the broadband fee of £25 on the current line though if required.

I'm also interested in the Opal package. Our exchange has ( bulldog , talktalk , tiscali ext)
Is it same as what Primus are offering (40or100gb use with no rate liming ect) depending on package.??
Are most of the resellers using O-bit ( Daisy) for these combined phone line & ADSL2+ packages or something else ??
Just tring to usderstand how it all operates
Thanks H-B
If your exchange have Bulldog, then you can also go for the cable and wireless network as it is the old bulldog network.
you may be better off on the Cable and wireless network than Talk Talk, but it depends on how much you want to pay, the Cable and wireless network is not fully unbundled.
ADSL24 have a couple of packages on the C&W network.

Hi
BT would use an available unused spare pair from any incoming drop wire, so it would not affect your existing line, and yes it would be a brand new number. The only thing is that to migrate the line to the Opal network it needs an active ADSL service on the line, so you would need to sign up to one of our other broadband packages for a month before switching over. You could save on the broadband activation fee by signing up to the C&W 12 month package which has free setup, then pay the £25 exit fee to migrate away in the 12 month contract , so in total £25 rather than £49 setup. Then the migration to Opal MPF is free also.
We will be able to provide the Opal service at any exchange where they have equipment present, regardless of market 1/2/3 etc.
James
why do you have to sign up to another broadband product first? that don't make sense.

I wonder if vivaciti would cover the cost of a new second line and broadband activation on that line if one went full LLU on some sort of contract? No chance. They are working on very fine margins anyway and these costs are what they get charged. I don't think they even have a markup on installation charges. That way the only addition cost would be a cessation of broadband on the current line for £25.
My way the only additional cost is £30 and dead simple, so why not do it?
Unless an understandable aim is to get onto a different line all the way to the exchange

Bob,
Of all the deals going on SMPF and MPF, at the moment, it looks like vivaciti comes out best for my needs.
Going for a new second BT line isn't realistically on the cards, but it is worth bearing in mind if at some point the current line becomes completely untenable for adsl.

I've just re-read the thread posts that apply to you and realise I am quite confused. .
I forgot you are still in contract on the existing line.

Not as confused as me...lol!
The little deal that I've also got going with 3 for mobile broadband is so straight forward in comparison: just over a fiver a month for 1GB of data, HSPA+ speeds (~4Mbps down and ~1.6Mbps up) is no mither, although subject to slow downs due to traffic and a bit pricey for data, however no landline is required
