Goscomb do the line bonding on BE Wholesale I believe, but again expensive

I had thought ADSL24 did too, but can find nothing to substantiate that

Thanks Matt for more evidence that BE Wholesale is not affected by the BE LINX issues

I've had details of BE via another wholesale supplier now (rather than direct from BE's own wholesale supplier) and the three month nonsense is no longer an issue - although it is still subject to a 30 day notice period.

I've no idea how BE manage for retail to consumers. I cannot imagine that a 3 month notice period would stick on a consumer broadband service if challenged hence I was never willing to offer it. Now that I can access the service on better terms I can offer it to my customers.

I did get some details from Enta with respect to their intended BE offering and I told them I wasn't overly impressed. I get the impression that they are still negotiating the deal with O2/BE so they may do better but certainly the announcement they made was pure marketing - they have no actual product as yet.

3 month notice period,really when i read the T &C's after the min term 12mths it's only 30days notice
After the first three (3) or twelve (12) months (as applicable) from your Service commencement date, you can terminate your Be contract at any time without paying any cancellation fees, providing you give us one (1) month's termination notice. You may also choose to terminate your Be contract by paying an express cancellation fee of either £40 (3 month customers) or £30 (12 month customers) (instead of providing one (1) month's notice), once the initial minimum service term has passed. Service will be terminated two (2) weeks after receipt of your express cancellation notice.

I can never understand why people don't just go to BE rather than a reseller or am i missing something?

The thing that you might be missing is that BE Wholesale connectivity only encompasses the L2TP backhaul from the exchange to the BE point-of-presence, to which the reselling ISP maintains a big fat pipe ( e.g. 1 Gbps between IDNet and BE PoP ) to bring the session in to their LNS.

Anything upstream of that, e.g. actual Internet connectivity, is the responsibility of the ISP.

So two ISPs both offering BE Wholesale connections could "feel" completely different in real-life depending upon their Internet-side network.

It's also incorrect to say "BE Wholesale is not affected by LINX issues" because LINX is a layer-5 exchange, nothing to do with backhaul. A reseller ISP could have peering through LINX and have connectivity problems.

Edit: A real-world example.

Think of two parcels shipped by Royal Mail to you, one from Amazon and one from an eBay seller. Both arrive at your house by the same means ( RM == BE Wholesale ) but each of the sellers ( ISPs ) have completely different upstream transport networks to actually bring the product into their possession prior to sending it to you ( == the connection to the Internet ).
