Many thanks for the swift reply, I'm sure others were wondering timescales.
The main problem I've had was resetting all my Gmail accounts, they noticed the IP change

What's your IP address got to do with gmail accounts?

Surprisingly my email client couldn't collect mail from those accounts. When I got into the accounts, after a lot of hurdles, I found a message to say that they'd noticed I was using a different IP and therefore deduced a hacker had tried to get in! Never had that before, rather throws the idea of collecting email from anywhere in the world out of the window! Very odd but there ya go.
On a more serious note the DNS servers disappeared several times this morning, couldn't go anywhere on the net, hope that's not going to be an issue again.

Morning,
A quick update on the Traceroute questions following a brief 'education session' form the NOC team.
"Coms use a number of wholesale DSL and Internet Service Providers to deliver you with a fast and reliable broadband path to the Internet. As you correctly observe, the traceroute is showing that your route to the BBC is via the ISP backhaul connection that we have Entanet which is the best route available. You may see others appear from time to time depending on the site you are connecting to.
Unfortunately, trace routes dont show your ADSL routing."
There was some planned maintenance between 0500-0600 this morning which may have caused a bump.
Hope this helps.
Paul

Thanks for the update Paul. Any chance coms could have a network status page similar to what Enta do and ADSL24 did (until they stopped updating it) so we know in advance of any downtime or maintenance?

Hi Bob,
Certainly, this will be available in myaccount post 1st Feb and on a refreshed coms.com website due to launch around the same time.
There are no current planned outages between now and 1st Feb.
Thanks,
Paul

Ah that explains the DNS issue then, it was probably about that time of morning I think. At one stage I couldn't even connect with a manual IP address so I expect there'd been some jumper pulling.

I'm pleased to report that after assistance from Paul and his team my connection is now performing how it was when I was on CW LLU.
Thanks very much chaps
