Re: ADSL24 > Coms migration. What could possibly go wrong?

I've also had disconnections at the exact same time (00:13) on 31 Jan and 3,6 and 9 Feb.
I've also had the 20 minute loss of service today at 17:05. I've raised a ticket to see what's going on.

I suspect coms will be using PPPoA. In that case the DHCP WAN-side lease renewal issue which was present on O2 would not be the reason for the drops.

The general loss of service is a different issue. I've no idea what that is. Unless they found what I have just described and had to do system update and restart.

A system update and restart could well be what happened, for whatever reason, or just a crash. Isn't there anything on the Twitter account about it?

Damn!

But thanks Oliver.

The common 72 hours indicates a system bug somewhere though.

(@ All, I expected Oliver to remember more about this and asked him to pop in here).

No problem. Perhaps someone on Coms can confirm or deny if it's PPPoA.

Ok. It's likely Coms have set all PPPoA sessions to drop every 72 hours then. Their system admin will need to update their configurations.

I dropped in to see if anyone else was having problems since the COMS takeover of ADSL24 - I wasn't expecting such a massive thread! It seems I am not alone... frown

I now have 3 tickets open since Friday - originally they were disappearing, but at least I can see them sitting there (unanswered) now. ADSL24 were very good at responding to tickets - but it seems to be taking COMS many days. And will I ever get more than the standard reply ("give us a while to sort things out") if/when they do get back to me?

Performance seems OK tonight, but was unusable on Friday.

Also been having DNS problems - do I need to change DNS servers? I never received any info from COMS on what might need to be changed for my new set up.

Getting close to requesting my MAC - though I see that option is one of the many casualties to disappear from the new MyAccount screen. frown

Yeah my link is dropping every 3 days too plus I had a break in service from 1705 to 1725 earlier today.

Happy days. The Coms staff seem to be very quiet...

I do recommend it. Two to try are the free OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com/ and Google's Public DNS https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/. I used Google's for a year and recently switched, finding OpenDNS to feel significantly faster.
