Re: ADSL24 > Coms migration. What could possibly go wrong?

Hacking is my only worry. There's nothing Plusnet staff can do, given my password, that they couldn't do without it. Insider trading of username and password details is extremely rare, and encrypting them isn't much use when it does occur.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Well seeing as not many have heard of coms, unlikely an outsider would know we even had an account with them wink

At 16:27:33? A tidy sum. Did you hold them before the takeover, as I'd never heard of them?

No, that wasn't me. I sold mine in chunks as I had them split across 2 trading accounts.

On the subject though, this is why no customers were informed of the impending take-over of ADSL24.... All participants in the deal are sworn to secrecy until the deal is done.

However, the share price did jump up significantly before the deal went public - and I noticed from googling a small local newspaper had covered the story....Someone reading that and putting 2 and 2 together would have (probably did) made a significant fortune on the share price rise that followed.

I thereabouts doubled my money on the shares....but I've owned many a shares that have halved in value in the past too!

What a surprise..... Opened a new ticket to complain that my last ticket shouldn't have been closed and to advise I'm still having disconnections, and got the same response as all the other times..... "Check cabling....try test socket.....try another router.... etc etc etc.

Sooo frustrating.

I feel your pain RS2OOO...

I submitted "3 sets of BT speedtest results, taken at different times of the day" in order to prove that I really did have a problem. That was on Friday. Now today they want me to re-run the tests, having ensured I have no other devices plugged in. Sorry, but that's another fob-off standard response. Another 4 days wasted. Why will COMS not acknowledge there is a problem, and do something to fix it?

And I've heard no more from PaulCOMS or DanCOMS on here either, in spite of supposedly being "on the case".

I'm just looking to relocate my web hosting elsewhere and I'll be off. I'm happy to pay £20 a month for the right service, but this is awful. I might as well be paying £2.50 a month to PlusNet - it can't be any worse.

OK, small correction - I just found I had a PM from PaulCOMS, and apparently I've not even been migrated yet... :/ So I suppose things could get worse before they get better...

Well I must be honest my connection has "so far" been really good. I did suffer from an altered profile after the switch, but I dropped them a ticket with my router details, and a few hours later it was all changed. TBH I am now getting some of the best speeds I have ever had.

I can't be the only oner surely??

No Woody you are not the only one. My migration passed without any change or difference, until a week later when they reset my snr to 12db.
A phone call to support at 10.15 on a friday night and the courteous lady set my up/down snr to 6db there and then.

I was on CPW (TTB) LLU already at my exchange with ADSL24 I might add. I also do NOT suffer with this 3 day session drop thing that some have been reporting either.

You on TTB at the exchange?

Seems enough are getting it as TTB apparently found a fix. Maybe its one dodgy router thats causing issues for some

It seems most likely you are the only one!

My speeds dropped - since migration my speeds are ~500 up / ~3500 down - prior to cutover ~750 up / 4100 down.

And I had yet another disconnection due to the 3 day issue last night. It might only be brief, but it just shouldn't happen.

I also don't appreciate being told by support that it's a good idea to disconnect and reconnect frequently as 'connections can become stale'.

Now, I appreciate things can go wrong and people are possibly working extremely hard to resolve issues, but there's little sign of things getting better. And whilst it's good to know that I'm not alone in experiencing issues - I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

Anyway, I hope your connection remains stable and better than before, but I wouldn't bank on it - everything looked okay for me in the first few days after cutover.
