I've asked about Annex M, doubt they will try it.
Not sure what to do.. Any benefit going elsewhere?

The apartments next to me (400 m away) have just had a fibre cabinet installed (Live in May) although a different cabinet number to my building I'm hoping BTO see sense and install one for ours.

Not really sure which is the correct thread to discuss my issues and I seem to have posts spread all over the place.

Anyway, for info, here is today's installment to my ongoing ticket. My normal speeds prior to migration were 6.3 to 7Mbps down and 0.88 up, and my normal ping is 11ms:

Connection speed has dropped right off again and I can barely use the internet today:

This ticket (inc. previous ones that you closed without fixing the problem) has been open for over 1 Month now and I've not had a single reply to a ticket for almost 1 Week.

I've give you plenty of time to resolve teething problems with the ADSL24 migration but absolutely nothing appears to be getting done and therefore if my issues are not resolved within 1 Week from now I will be asking for a MAC code to move elsewhere despite your offer of 2 Months free broadband and phone - 2 Months free is no good if I barely have a usable connection.

EDIT: SInce posting this 35 mins ago, downstream speeds are down to 0.8Mbps.
Interesting thing is, the router is still syncing at over 8000kbps.

Why wait it wont get any better, the service is oversubscribed and cant cope with the traffic at peak periods.
I've been with ADSL24 since 2007 but after last weekend I got my mac and have used it already.
When you cant even open the speedtest web page you know it's time to move on.

I consider this peak time and I'm getting about 8mbps at the moment, the most my line can handle.

I have considered migrating myself but it's not worth the costs and hassle for 4 months I live here (I'm a final year uni student).

Getting slightly off-topic, I raised a ticket for my profile to be changed earlier today as I grew tired of waiting the line options under My Account to appear. Within half an hour, it'd been changed as requested and they had called me to check it was working ok.

.....And just 2 hours later with no explanation whatsoever I've suddenly gained an extra 6Mbps.....

I'm looking at moving on too. My sync speed down has dropped by about 500bps since migration, but i was only about 4kbps before migration (i'm on a fairly long line) - so not the end of the world. The main thing for me is outages and disconnects, whether it's dns, a 3 day ip lease period, or whatever. So while I expect I will move on after 7 years, I'll probably spend several months deciding which isp to move to - though I'll be moving to fibre when I do switch so things should be much better.

I'm not nit-picking, but unless your router is disconnecting and reconnecting your connection speed isn't changing. If that is what you report in tickets or over the phone, it won't help you get the problem solved.

If your router is indeed disconnecting and reconnecting, that's what you need to be reporting.

If it isn't, then your throughput/speedtest rate is changing. Probably due to congestion, but there may be other reasons. A sudden speed jump at 9pm suggests to me "other reasons", (even a reconnection), though you may also have the same one as the others are experiencing.

My router constantly shows this:

Yet my speeds vary from not being able to open the speed test page, right up to 7Mbps downstream.

I asked Coms to increase SNR to 12dB, still had same issues, then to 15dB, and still had disconnections etc. SNR now varies by itself between 3dB and 6dB

I don't know what this means but it always gives a fail on ATM OAM segment Ping:

Test Internet surfing
Test xDSL Synchronization Pass
ATM OAM Segment Ping Fail

Router wired directly into test socket. Same issues with multiple routers, Router connected directly to PC via Ethernet. I have up to 9 wireless devices connected via Wi-Fi bridge around the house with DHCP switched off and fixed IP's, there doesn't appear to be any bandwidth leakage.

I had these exact same problems with previous broadband supplier both pre and post LLU, but when I moved to ADSL24 in around 2009 things improved and I'd only have connection issues once every 3 to 6 Months (on LLU), but they were fixed by adjusting settings i.e Interleaving SNR margin, or, BT engineer working on the line.

But all of the above disconnections and wild speed swings have only existed since migration to Coms.

tracert gives me: te5-3.telehouse-east2.core.enta.net
and: te4-4.telehouse-east.core.enta.net

When my connection is down my phone line crackles, when the connection is up the phone line is perfect.

I don't think Coms know what to do.... they're reluctant to get an Engineer out because they say the line tests ok.

Some disconnections last for 2 to 3 days at a time followed by a sudden re-connection at dial-up speeds for a day or 2, then disconnections again, then suddenly everything working perfectly again.

My feeling is its one of those green boxes in the street, possibly water ingress as I know a lorry reversed into one some years ago and almost flattened it.

If anyone has suggestions I'd be very grateful.


EDIT: One other thing I should mention, speed-test.net has recently started putting my location as Liverpool and tests via a server in Douglas (Isle of Mann) based on ping, yet I'm actually based in London but when using a London server my ping has dropped to circa.35ms whereas it used to be circa.11ms.
