I have been asked to look at slow speeds provided by Chess in rural Somerset, exchange Edingworth.

We have done all the first line checks except swapping the router out.

Anyone got a view.

It's the BT Wholesale IP Profile of 0.14Mbps. On that downstream rate of 4384kbps it should be 3.5Mbps.

It should self-correct within a few hours of connecting at 4384kbps. Probably overnight. See this page for more detail.

Thanks for that, looks as though it is best to leave it alone and on for 5 days at least.

As it's clearly had a huge jump from the low connection speed that caused the low IP Profile, as I said it should be overnight, if not before. That's assuming that the router hadn't been "reconnected" at the higher speed before you got to it.

I'd be wondering what caused such a very low sync. (Downstream rate).

Just been told all is working well again. Forgot to mention that someone had plugged an answer machine into line in error, no filter. That was removed totally because it should not have been on the line at all.
