Cant speak for the member you replied to, but as far as possible I avoid long contracts. Yes I know I am going to be stuck with one for fibre (IF I go) but hate being tied to a service that may deteriorate during the contract or my circumstances may change and end up having to "pay for nothing" to pull out. We all know how big a problem it can be if you have issues with bad service but the (bad) supplier has you over a barrel with T&C. It takes a lot of fighting and stress to escape sometimes

At least with Vivaciti now I can (and probably will) walk with little notice, I think this situation highlights the problem nicely.

The poster apparently can't get FTTC and monthly contracts are available on Plusnet ADSLx. Also Plusnet have the (Ofcom-prompted) low cost buyouts on all contracts including the 12-month ones if taken. Table 1.7 (for current products).

"Low cost" is still not *Free* if you are dissatisfied though.

2 connection drops between lunch time and late afternoon. Enta dont seem to be covering themselves in glory so far.

@ 8pm.... average HTTPx6 down 3.55 Mbps. Pathetic! At this rate I can see a MAC request happening in 9 days time.

I agree. But it isn't as bad as full price.

Monthly on ADSL2+ is £2.50 more than 12-month. Still cheap for unlimited.

Its very disappointing to see a formerly solid service deteriorate like this. My line has never been great... a little flaky and with a BT Recorded Line Length to Exchange @ 2667m It performance has always disappointed.
The current Downstream BRAS rate is: 7.39 Mbps
The current Upstream BRAS rate is: 0.83 Mbps
Down snr is 7db and line attenuation is back to its former 40db (down from the 43 we saw with LLU)

At 8pm the line struggled to get 3.55Mbps (TBB speedtest). While the sync seems to be roughly "ballpark" speed has fallen away drastically to a level that I feel is completely unacceptable, tonight it is lower than it was with Enta on ADSL1 a couple of years back. I'm sure there is a lot more red showing up at the upper edge of the BQM than there was formerly.

Oh well I guess I should be looking at my alternatives.

Doesn't sound good.

I don't think they show their node statuses anymore frown. Unless it's on an in-house page your might find?

That figures. When I joined Enta - back in the heady days of hopping between the old centrals they were very open and engaged with their customers really well. Smidge and others were regular contributors to the Enta section here, everything was good, as was the performance of Entas network

Around the time of the WBC fiasco, there were other changes that took place behind the scenes, and the support guys pretty much disappeared from these forums, and IIRC the changes extended to employment status of some of support. From there on in things seemed to go downhill until I had had enough and migrated for the Daisy LLU availability at my 20cn exchange (still ADSL1 not viable to adsl2 - until Talk Talk unbundled it of course.. that moved BT!)

Disappointed but sadly... not surprised. At least we have Think Broadbands' BQM and Intelligent Speedtest facilities to help unmask the issues we face. Its good to know someone is on our side.
