Virgin's network lost a great deal of connectivity earlier today, there maybe a chance you have been caught up in that if BT are using Virgin for backhaul in places.

In reply to a post by iand:
Library free internet service
McDonalds free Wifi

both could have been used to access numbers etc..

That's not really my point. I should have been contacted by email beforehand letting me know the new details so I was aware that the service was changing over and to avoid downtime.

Why go to McDonalds or the library (which is over 45 mins away) whenever I used my phones 3G connection in my nearby town which is 10 mins away?

Rofl. There is absolutely no chance that BT Wholesale, Retail or Openreach are using Virgin for backhaul.

I'm another one who wasn't warned about the change - even though I called Vivaciti to find out what the position was when the news first broke, they said it didn't affect me.

Im seeing a LOT m ore drops than normal on my line which is very frustrating, given that my line isnt the most stable in the first place.

Not Impressed.

Ditto here too. frown

I was going to give it a fair go as things looked like they'd improved over the past few days but this morning has been a total disaster for me. Been trying to stream the cricket and can barely few a minute without it buffering, line speed dropped by 50% and then it was as low as 30/Kb/s . Argghhh!!!

Fortunately had my MAC in pocket and just bit the bullet and transferred to Xilo. I had 2+ stable, excellent years on Vivaciti LLU and no way can I take going back to the dark old Enta days. Is expecting something to work as it should so very wrong these days? [sigh]

I opened a ticket about my outage and received a rather unsatisfactory answer, which was there were no outages on the network when my connection lost PPP session. So how come my connection was down 1320 til 1700 but sync'd?
