In reply to a post by nickscs:
I have just been advised by Vivaciti, (on requesting a mac code), that Daisy has started bringing in throttling from Isp to Isp, which is one of the reasons for dropping them. Has anyone else heard this ?

yeap ive got the same now so its time to move on.

Re: Vivaciti dropping Daisy - not impressed so far

One of the things I liked about Daisy was the improved stability I found over the BTw connection I had with Pipex /Enta. The line resyncs at random, this has been the case despite several changes of router, removal of all extension wiring etc. With the logging on the Fritzbox I see each event begins with
"DSL not responding (No DSL synchronization)". This is followed by
"Internet connection cleared" This is usually followed by
"Timeout during PPP negotiation" - then another
"Internet connection cleared" then
"DSL is available" (DSL synchronization exists with xxxx/xxx kbit/s) Finally we arrive at
"Internet connection established successfully."

The next "drop" the routine is repeated, it happens at odd intervals Below is a sample of the connection since mid July.
21.07.14 07:06:40 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8695/991 kbit/s)
21.07.14 21:49:23 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8088/939 kbit/s
21.07.14 22:09:29 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7608/931 kbit/s).
24.07.14 01:34:25 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7608/927 kbit/s).
25.07.14 23:40:00 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7864/955 kbit/s).
26.07.14 02:13:11 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7800/939 kbit/s).
26.07.14 04:09:55 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7736/923 kbit/s).
29.07.14 21:29:25 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8120/952 kbit/s).
30.07.14 00:25:53 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7768/952 kbit/s).
30.07.14 04:18:52 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7928/947 kbit/s).
30.07.14 21:31:37 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8407/939 kbit/s).
30.07.14 22:25:47 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8024/959 kbit/s).
01.08.14 03:07:06 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7768/920 kbit/s).
01.08.14 04:13:12 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7704/959 kbit/s).

Some periods are a little better, some weeks are worse, there is no pattern recently I saw a resync on 3 consecutive occasions all within a few kbit/s so no radical up/down changes.

I had a line card change and the E side (?) swapped before I left BTw for Daisy, none of this helped, with a new drop wire having been installed when I moved in here (last wiring had been removed when they took out the ducts here) the only unchanged element is the copper between PCP 29 and the street chamber that feeds the pole outside here. Once I moved to daisy I found decent speeds and better stability although over time the sync dropped (as did the throughput) although the throughput evened out in the 7 meg area my sync did seem to yo-yo but the drops were less.

Openjoke have looked at the line and pronounce it ok, but I don't feel it is, now I am back on BTw I see pages on sites i use regularly tha some days - inexplicably - taking up to a minute to load, They never used to and while I cant say it is linked to the instability, its one hell of a coincidence, and despite Vivacitis view that its better for most it seems that for those like me who migrated to them for a better service (which I found once I was off of BTW) and are now worse off its a case of "tough" - at least that was the tone of the response I had from them in this forum - enough to make it certain that I will migrate once (if) we get some idea of what is happening with the promised fibre upgrade to our cabinet.

So I'm back at square one, and very unhappy about it.

I was in a similar position to yourself, I had an unstable connection on entanet / BTW with random disconnects and it would take anywhere between 10 minutes to hours to reconnect, the problem was never resolved.

I switched to C&W LLU with Vivaciti and had no problems with my line / connection, until Vivaciti made the decision to go back to entanet. I found the problem was still there within the first few days. I migrated to Xilo a couple of weeks ago, back on C&W LLU and have a stable connection again.

IRC you do not have the option for C&W LLU at your exchange?

You are right - nothing but TT and BTw, and we only finally got WBC after TT unbundled here - BT having previously said that a WBC upgrade for this exchange (Circa 10k lines according to engineers working locally) was not financially viable.

In my case the issue has always been there, right back to when I first took 512k service with Pipex more than 10 years ago, and on dial up the line gain had to be tweaked due to issues with connection and performance, but as ever Openjoke are not concerned and use the threat of SFI charges to deter people for pressing for a proper fix, an area that OFCOM should really be looking at. For some reason the LLU kit seemed to be more tolerant of whatever issue exists with my line and I saw a more stable performance with slightly better speeds on LLU

The old chestnut about lines not being guaranteed for broadband needs to be put to rest. MANY lines only exist now to provide broadband and where a line should be technically capable of providing a decent level of service then this should carry the same obligation as a voice service. This isn't a 7 mile long line to some remote field. Its less than 3km in the middle of town.

Its difficult now because they screwed up the survey for our fibre cabinet and apparently (according to Superfarce wales) our cabinet is "in scope" but for when... who knows, Im at the end of a line rental saver plan and should have been moving now to a bundled deal with FTTC probably with Zen, but their ADSL packages all seem to be capped so are not viable, and when I looked at Xilo I saw mention of migration charge, which is frustrating as my move is only because one half of the circus is avoiding fixing an issue and the other half has made an arbitrary decision which has impacted my QOS and didnt even have the professionalism to inform me it was happening, despite my contacting them to clarify this point.

Yep as bad on BTw as it ever was - in terms of my connectio, thayt really is an Improvement (not)

04.08.14 21:15:16 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8120/939 kbit/s).
06.08.14 02:01:33 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 7768/923 kbit/s).
06.08.14 04:20:54 DSL is available (DSL synchronization exists with 8024/963 kbit/s).

On Daisy I Saw fewer of these episodes.

On the upside, I had a reply from Superfarce Cymru that says the preliminary work is underway on my Cabinet (whatever work that may be) so maybe there is hope on the horizon once again. one thing I do know, Fibre WONT be with Vivaciti.
