Re: Timico - possible database hack?

[re: bobble_bob] [link to this post]

Hi Bobble_bob and all.

Obviously I'm not about to say how my email addresses are generated or what form they take etc as I am extremely careful about giving out ANY personal details to anybody these days. In the event that I make a new contact or buy something online I generate an email just for them.

This has only affected one specific email address that I generated just for Timico after I discovered I had not received any notification that we were being moved onto their network. I ruled out Coms as they didn't know the address (as far as I know as I never gave it to them), nobody but Timico does, it's not used for anybody else at all, not been mentioned in despatches or posted anywhere. If I'd been hacked all my email addresses would start showing the same problem.

Hence I started this thread in case anybody else sees a similar problem because this is how people have their identities stolen, bank accounts emptied etc. If it turns out just to be me, fair enough but with the present state of affairs worldwide we all need to keep our private life private. Of course we have a Big Brother government which thinks otherwise but that's another story...

In reply to a post by bobble_bob:
Its surprising how people can get your email and phone number.
True, but if I tell you that my email address is '[email protected]' there is no legitimate reason for anyone else knowing that address is valid. If I start getting spam sent to that address I know exactly who to blame wink

Whether it's a data breach, careless use of CC or you've given that address to someone else. It's your fault smile

This is concerning. I can assure you we do not sell email addresses to third parties.
Not aware of other customers reporting issues but we will thoroughly investigate.

PM sent.
