I would try Pluse8 first for your FTTC.
The £75 charge is easily forgotten as it is backed up by a monthly rolling contract.

As other have said I would avoid Zen completely, I am not going to bash a previous provider on the forums but take note please.
Up till about 18-20 months ago I would have praised them to the moon and back but they have changed the way they do business.

Just remember there are other providers that are highly rated on here also!

How much would yo lose out on by bailing?, as you say your right, LRS in non refundable!

3 months left of LRS.

However, there is 10% off the normal £16.99 monthly line rental if paid one year in advance:

£16.99 x 12 = £203.88
10% off = £183.49

9 months using normal rate:
£16.99 x 9 = £152.91

9 months using discounted rate:
(£183.49 / 12) x 9 = £137.62

Total lost:
£183.49 - £152.91 = £30.58 (I think this is the right answer to consider)
£183.49 - £137.62 = £45.87

I think to break even I would have to leave after the 11th month.

Not with LRS no, But you also have to take one of the calling plans ,in order to get lrs, So the question would be this, by renewing lrs or buying it for the first time, are you also renewing your calling plan min term? and your right in that the lrs is non refundable

As for Zen i can only report as i find, I in the past 12mths of being with zen have experienced peak time capacity issues twice , and both of those where down to btw and their overloading of their svlans, both times this was sorted out by Zen's support, though i did have a bit of a fight, because BTW required evidence of an issue or they would reject it, but both times Zen presented the needed evidence and BTW fixed the problem

Had i been with Plusnot i would of still had the issue, those are my personal experiences , that's all i can say,

I paid a small fortune to move to pulse8 from virgin media where I had no telephone line so had to pay around £194 which included the first months line rental (this was with £25 knocked off for activation as well)

Aside from the cost it's a very good isp you speak to people who are very technical and will do whatever they can to help you out and the speeds for me are the same 24/7 which is something virginmedia could never provide me within the last 6 months of my contract.

Also don't forget there is no contract so if you are not happy you have lost £75 only rather than being stuck with BT for 12 or 18 months with no way to get out.

I just moved away from Pulse8 to AAISP (wanted Ipv6 and generally have wanted to be an AAISP customer for a while due to their transparency but before the new 1TB packages could never justify the cost) had been a customer of Pulse8 just over a year but only on FTTC for a few months (Silly waste of £75 on my part but that's my fault for not planning ahead properly).

Pulse8 have been great, the few times I needed to contact them I've always spoken to someone knowledgeable, they also have a fairly unique proposition in terms of risking 30day terms on FTTC given I'm pretty sure it's a 12month term imposed on them by TT.

The service itself seems to be resold TT business and seems to be a TT issued IP.etc but that said It performed as advertised, no issues with speeds/reliability

Also no problems cancelling, no pushy sales tactics none of that rubbish nice simple confirmation of the instruction and then carrying it out.

Certainly if you just want broadband that works, want to avoid large call-centres and want an provider that actually seem to care about the service they provide you can't go far wrong with Pulse8 I'd certainly be happy to recommend them based on the service I received.
