I just decided to quit Virgin for them (in Cambridge via CityFibre) since they are one of a few providers who are not on the "annual CPI+3.9%" racket, which is surely going to hit the fan next Mar/Apr.
There were a couple of others (Giganet & Zen from memory), but I kind of liked No-one's material better. They were also fixing price for 2 years at what seemed reasonable (competitive, but enough for them to make a margin).
Anyway, I have now spoken with the Director, Darren Elsom (having emailed the company to ask them what on earth was going on).
Based on what he said, they are winding up Trunk Networks (due to loss of a major customer) which was a business oriented IT consultancy/Cloud provider, and are focussing on being a high quality residential broadband supplier via No One.
No One was originally set up as a subsidiary of Trunk (which itself is registered in Scotland for historic reasons!), so Darren needs to buy-out the "No One" asset off the Trunk liquidator (Darren says this is agreed) and NoOne can then operate as its own stand-alone business.
Ok - what do I take from this:
- on the plus side, they have been very responsive as a company to my queries. Darren is personable and I kind of believe him.
- on the minus side, they are clearly a start-up in this space, and there's a risk here, since I don't actually know him from Adam.
I've decided to stick with them, Gotta support the small guys, otherwise how are we going to stick it to BT/Virgin/Vodafone/Etc...
Hope this is useful.
Jim
