Toob

[link to this post]

I checked for which broadband providers were available in my area using postcode as a search. Toob who supply FTTH in most of Southampton and Portsmouth (among other places) are not listed. This makes the search facility less than useful as it seems to suggest Virgin are the only ultrahigh speed broadband provider in this area.

I know it takes time and effort to keep the database up to date but Toob have been providing FTTH for over 2 years now.

This looks like a misplaced post. It seems that you have no problem with Toob, although anyone glancing into the ISP unhappiness section might think that Toob are a problem ISP. Really, your problem is with the database [although it is not clear which database] so this post should go in a section more appropriate to the database and perhaps take a better title

To be fair, "User comments on ISPs" is not necessarily for complaints. You are also allowed to post good things about your ISP, or questions about it.

Toob is an intresting one.

They own then own Fibre Network.

1) They sell internet access to residential customers over there own (TOOB) fibre Network.
2) They also sell internet access to residential customers over (Cityfibre) Network
3) They also allow ISP who sell internet access to residential customers on (Cityfibre) to also be able to sell this access over (TOOB) network.

CityFibre and toob agree strategic relationship in industry-first

2) They also sell internet access to residential customers over (Cityfibre) Network

1 - infrastructure they own, they run retail services over. Only the Toob ISP available on Toob fibre.
2 - they buy wholesale capacity from Cityfibre (whom only wholesale) as any other, e.g. Zen/Vodafone/AAISP etc.

3) They also allow ISP who sell internet access to residential customers on (Cityfibre) to also be able to sell this access over (TOOB) network.

Whilst the cityfibre link implied this, it hasn't happened, see AAISP's page:

CityFibre and Toob

It was announced at the end of 2022 that CityFibre and Toob had agreed terms to work together and provide eachother's services. Originally the press release said that partners (like us) would be able to access Toob's network by Summer 2023 - however, this has not happened and we have no ETA from CityFibre as to when we'll be able to order Toob-based services via CityFibre.

Have you tried ordering service from them ?

Postcode checkers are notoriously vague.

I've found that Toob's own address and postcode checker is extremely accurate. Which search facility are you having trouble with?

The opening post is about the lack of Toob appearing on thinkbroadband's postcode search..... I don't believe the OP is asking about Toob service.

Perhaps this thread would have been better in TTTS ?

Thanks I did originally think I should post in TTTS but as this was specifically for "other providers" thought it would be more appropriate. I did not see it as purely complaints or issues with other providers. I will repost my comment to TTTS as Toob are still not represented in the Find a Broadband Provider Search does not show Toob as a provider in my area. Despite the fact I am currently receiving a service from Toob and they are very good.

I wonder if Toob need to approach Thinkbroadband, or Thinkbroadband need to approach Toob ?
