Gigaclear, Linksys router and ethernet connected printers

I've moved into a rental and it comes with Gigaclear and a Linksys router. The wifi aspect is fine and everything connects up but I have a couple of printers that are ethernet. I've plugged them into the Linksys router and expected them to automatically connect but no cigar.

Any suggestions very welcome.

How are the printers configured to get their IP address? Do you have a manual for the printers which tells you how they work? My guess is that if you are able to change the printers to their default configuration they would use DHCP to get their IP address from the router.

Make and models of printers would help. Ta

Both work perfectly with a 7530 router from AVM and that is because AVM are a worldclass provider of routers.

Having dug deeper, it would seem that Gigaclear decide whther or not you can actually use the three remaining ethernet ports for what they were intended...ie to plug in an ethernet device like a printer.

I'm in a rental. Gigaclear is provided by the landlord who owns the account. So unless I can sweet-talk him into letting me have his Gigaclear account credentials I am stuffed. Unless I shell out for a wifi printer.

Compared to the excellent AVM routers, Linksys is a CoS IMO.

Looks like I am right. The Linksys SPNMX55 that Gigaclear supply is limited to wi-fi cinnections only which is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. Actually, it's worse that the teapot as you can actually eat the teapot.

???? What have you swallowed? Your printers should work with any old ethernet port.

This I don't believe. I can't see Gigaclear disabling ethernet ports and I can't see your landlord doing it either.

Your problem most likely is a straight configuration problem. How were these printers set up on the LAN previously? DHCP or fixed IP? You need to get them on to your present LAN IP address range either by fixed IP or by DHCP and in the latter case you need to then find them on your LAN.

You will need the app - unfortunately, I think this router requires an app rather than using a web interface - and you will need the router credentials from the landlord to be able to see what is going on. Yes, these things should possibly auto configure, but if they are not, then you need to be able to see what is going on.

The spec shows it has Ethernet; so you are saying Gigaclear customise the software to disable the ports?

Sadly Linksys is now a brand of Foxconn, not the independent Linksys of 20 years ago, that made some interesting stuff.

What happens if you plug a laptop (with an Ethernet adapter) or similarly desktop machine into one of the Ethernet ports?

Is it assigned a local IP address + can reach the internet?
