Was it. Seems like you abandoned this thread, for whatever reason. Went over to ISPR and then started the whole thing over….odd behaviour.

Both work perfectly with a 7530 router from AVM and that is because AVM are a worldclass provider of routers.

???? What have you swallowed? Your printers should work with any old ethernet port.

The Linksys SPNMX55 that Gigaclear supply is limited to wi-fi cinnections

This I don't believe. I can't see Gigaclear disabling ethernet ports and I can't see your landlord doing it either.

Your problem most likely is a straight configuration problem. How were these printers set up on the LAN previously? DHCP or fixed IP? You need to get them on to your present LAN IP address range either by fixed IP or by DHCP and in the latter case you need to then find them on your LAN.

You will need the app - unfortunately, I think this router requires an app rather than using a web interface - and you will need the router credentials from the landlord to be able to see what is going on. Yes, these things should possibly auto configure, but if they are not, then you need to be able to see what is going on.

I can assure you that I have not swallowed anything.

It is NOT a 'straightforward DHCP problem'. I do have the Linksys app. There is an option 'Add device'. Three options - computer, printer etc. All three options are Wi-Fi only. There is NO LAN connection offering. And YES Gigaclear/Linksys do not not support any 'normal' LAN connectivity on those ports.

What you can do, however, as I discovered yesterday, is to connect LAN1 on my Fritz router to one of the Linksys's three remaining ports. Setting my Mac to use the wifi from the Fritz router I can still access the internet. But more importantly, I can plug in my printers to any of the ethernet ports on the Fritz repeaters or Fritz router and they work fine.

So sorted. Now for that audio.

Yes it has four ethernet ports. None of them, however, provide connection or functionality as in a 'normal' LAN network

Do gigaclear support have any ideas?

I contacted Gigaclear 'support'. It is in parenthesis. I'd read just how dire their tech support was. They were right. You can't get to talk to someone who is a tech. You speak to someone in Customer 'Service' who then speaks to someone in Tech. They then ask the Customer Serrvice person a question to ask me and so it goes back and forth.

The actual level of tech support was about kindergarden level and all they could offer was Reboot. I'd already tried that but gave it another go. Still no cigar.

OK..enough. I have a working system that lets me print thanks to my own Fritz mesh network.

I'm not wasting anymore time on this as I'm in a rental. With a bit of luck in a few moinths time we'll be in our actual 'new' home.

Good news and bad news. The Good News is that it already has FTTH. You can guess the Bad News but at least I will have the account authority etc. and/or can directly use my Fritz router and not this pretend router from Linksys.

If you already have your own router, why not simply unplug the LinkSys router and plug yours in. The Gigaclear NTE will provide a DHCP address to your router, and it will just work. There are no login requirements, the NTE just provides an ethernet connection so you can use any router that you want to. Simple.

Because I am not the account holder and do not have the information to set-up my router to gain access. There are login requirements. I know., Already tried plugging my router in directly.

I'm also with Gigaclear and if the connection has the Linksys Mesh Routers then the NTE will be set to Gateway mode and I can assure you it does not need a login (access is fixed at thet address). Gateway means it allocates one DHCP address to the first device connected to the NTE, this can even be a laptop with an ethernet port and that device will have internet access.

That DHCP assignment happens once, so any subsequent device plugged in will not function until the DHCP lease is renewed which happens when the NTE is powered on. I know all this because I did a lot of speed testing when we were first connected, so discovered this through trial and error, plus I do not use the Gigaclear supplied Linksys devices and instead use a Netgear Orbi setup (all of the ethernet ports on the Orbi provide access so a printer could be connected if required).

So my advice is this:

1) Power down the NTE completely and wait 5 minutes.
2) While you are waiting plug any router into Port 1 of the NTE (no other ports work on the NTE in Gateway mode). I suggest testing with a device that has an ethernet port to validate this works.
3) Power on the NTE and after a few minutes internet access should be working.

When you have done that then repeat the process for the router you want to use.

Hope you find this works for you.
