Swish / Cuckoo / All points ipv6

[link to this post]

Just a point of interest, but I spotted my ex Swish now Cuckoo connection now has IPV6 support, I think a /56 block provided, not seen any announcement from them, but all appears to work as you'd hope.

Noticed that too but struggling to get it working with my Unifi setup. The router gets an IPv6 and if I SSH into it I can make outbound connections over IPv6 from it. If I turn on IPv6 in one of my VLANs then the clients there get IPv6 addresses with a different prefix and they can't make any outbound connections over IPv6. It's probably a Unifi issue but not 100% sure due to the last two bullets points here.

Are you using the supplied router or your own and does the WAN IPv6 address and the LAN IPv6 addresses have the same prefix?

If you are getting fe80:: 's or fd21:: 's these are link-locals and Unique locals respectively and your ISP is not a player in you getting them

I'm getting 2a0a:xxxx/64 on the LAN and 2a0b:xxxx on the WAN, as well as the link-locals. Reading up on IPv6 a bit more I *think* that's not an issue but I admit I'm at the limit of my understanding here.

It sounds like they're setting up IPv6 but not turned the prefix delegation on for the LAN yet

I mailed them to double-check the prefix delegation size and they said it's actually /64. Not ideal. Still can't get it to work so I've given them details of my setup and the caveat from Unifi about only the router having IPv6 connectivity if the ISP hands out a /64. Will reply if they come back with anything useful.

I'm using opnsense, configured the WAN side with a /56 delegation with interface tracking to get the IP on the LAN side.

That is needlessly stingy

On my UDM SE when I set the prefix delegation size to /56 I'm getting both the /56 delegation and the gateway gets an IPv6 address in a different prefix.

I’m no longer receiving an IPv6 address, no DHCPv6 response from what I can tell
