Gigaclear Essex 27/12/25

Hey all,

Just in case anyone in Essex and with Gigaclear is having issues today, a problem has occurred within the main Essex hub, and download speeds are being drastically reduced until further notice (when they can get engineers to their equipment).

According to the customer operations centre that I spoke to just now, they said it should be fixed today within the next couple of hours, but they cannot confirm that, for obvious reasons.

Just to give a bit of insight as to the issues I'm seeing. my ping is normal about 2-3ms, occassionally slightly higher at 4ms. Packet loss is through the roof, about 75%. COC said it was congestion, I said the last time we had congestion, both upload and download were affected.

Upload speeds are currently unaffected and as advertised at 1345hrs.

Latest update from the Gigaclear site:

We continue to work with the third-party provider to resolve this issue. Their transmission team is actively investigating. We’ll provide another update when we have more information and confirm when the service is fully restored. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
