Are the monthly payments (mine is on the 2nd) to cover the month to come or the previous month?
I am sure you have to pay in advance of services. Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers, that's what I was pretty sure of. The reason I ask is that I have had my date from IDnet for taking over and it is on the 1st Sept. I have mailed Plusnet to let them know that I am cancelling my direct debit (due on the 2nd).
They answered saying:
"Please note you need a live curcuit to complete your migration and your next subscription is due on 02/09/2006 if this payment fails then a cease will be placed on your line disallowing the migration, please re-add a valid payment method to ensure minimal disruption to your service".
I have replied immediately saying:
"But the payments are in lieu of the month following the payment date (paid in advance of services).
So the payment due on the 2nd Sept would be to cover the month from 2nd Sept to 1st Oct. As you won't be my ISP for that period, why would you take a payment for it?"
So I now eagerly await a response. If they are not entitled to the money then they ain't gonna ******* well get it. I will have to take a long hard look at the terms and conditions. If they are right, they get paid, if they are wrong and just trying to screw me for another

i wil try and explain this in laymans terms, however vodka rules at this tim eof night
1) Your due date is 2nd of the month - every month
2) You ask for your migration date - anytime of the month
3) You migrate on 4th of the month
4) howvere afaik you need to give 30 days
therefore your payment is still due on 2nd of the month, granted you only use it for 2 days, you then have to request a refund for the remaining 29 days.
Do this by phone on 0845 1400200 and also raise a ticket to confirm.

Cheers for that,
It would have to be that, as I have just checked the billing page and the assumption is correct (you pay in advance). Here is a snippet for the payment they took on the 2nd of August (note the dates):
Qty Description Unit VAT Gross
1 Account Billing ( 2006-08-02 to 2006-09-01)

Stuation is likely to get more confusing too, I moved to IDnet two months ago. Today I received a notice from Plusnet saying they forgot to take June's payment. Just had a ticket response from Stewart Norriss confirming that the information contained in 'account details' on the portal is complete nonsense. Unlike a normal statement of accounts Plusnet work on the basis that, and I quote, 'the system thought the bill had been paid'. They have thinking systems now!, perhaps that's what they meant when they said they were two years ahead of any other ISP.
I wonder how they go about collecting money from those who did not downgrade to a pay as you go account and who removed their card details.
Regards
Doug
