Clarification for Max Upgrade Procedure
September 26, 2006, 05:44:26 PM
Over the last week it has become apparent that there has been some level of confusion within the customer base surrounding our Max Upgrade procedure.
Prior to now, the Comms Team have been placing manual upgrade orders at the request of customers on our support forums. Additionally, the Customer Support Centre have been placing manual MAX upgrades as per our standard procedure, which has always been to charge

To me it just looks like anyone who doesn't want to pay, just has to wait even longer.
(As if there are que jumpers, you will get pushed further back).
Never mind "you stay, we pay" it's more like
"you don't pay, you wait and wait".

the only problem i have had, I was on 3.2mb (prev 2mb) but since changing my master faceplate, my speed has shot up to 7mb and more than stable.

I left PN and moved to Zen middle of Feb, went to their 1Mb package and requested to be migrated to Max on 1 March. On 4 March I was regarded to Max and for free. 3 full working days and without quibbling, begging, without cost and without delay. All it took was a 30 second phone call to them.
PN customers could go to another ISP and get regarded immediately, hell even PN put new customers on Max when they join-up. Current customers could ask for a MAC code from PN, migrate to a new ISP on a monthly contract for free, get moved to MAX and come back to PN if they wanted to and it would be quicker to get it than waiting for PN to sort it. What about all those that paid extra for months to que jump - have they all been upgraded?
This announcement, if not a u-turn of policy, is certainly an indication on how PN operate, in that it took the company 4 days since the issue was raised on this forum to figure out whether they were meant to charge it or not. Simply amazing to say the least. If PN don't know their own policies without having to debate and discuss them in a 'meeting' is it any wonder no customers are aware what they are entitled to or not?

Well, it can't be true can it? Some senior PN manager told the CS agents days ago to start feeding out the new charges to punters so the policy was clearly in place - but in PlusNet's typical secretive way whereby they presumably hoped to catch as many fish as they could before someone rumbled what was going on.
The alleged "head-scratching" over the last few days can only have been about how to spin it to the punters now that they have been found out.
This disinformation was brought to you by PlusNet - the Voice of the People. How quickly they fall over themselves to prove that nothing has changed.

The wholesale fees are at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/newsarchive.asp?item=2591and have not altered as far as I am aware.
Note that those who previously had the ISP pay BT Wholesale for a regrade to 1Mbps and 2Mbps are now getting wholesale to do the regrade to max for free.
I would guess a single

It would seem that Plus.net would be taking a loss of 88 pence per transaction if you factor in the VAT though, maybe they were quoting an ex-VAT price too?
