I've recently been maxed by plusnet and my line syncs at approx 2.5Mbps.
The thing is I'm fairly close to the exchange (1.6km as the crow flies) but have poor attenuation figures (Downstream: 50db, SNR Margin varies from 3-11db) These figures are taken from when the router is plugged into the test socket after taking off the faceplate of the master socker.
According to the BT Address checker, it estimates I should get speeds of 5.5Mbps-8Mbps, but when I use the phone number checker, it tells me I'll be capable of 2.5Mbps. Does the phone checker go off the actual line stats rather than just distance from exchange?
Basically, I reckon I have a substandard line. Does anyone know if reporting this to BT would make any difference? Or has anyone had any experience with this sort of "problem"?
Thanks.
