Upstream speeds, contention question

Hi all

I am a bit out of date on the current situation - my PlusNet package is a premier 20:1 variant, purchased before ADSLMax etc., and I have quietly ignored any problems.

AdslMax gives me a healthy 6342 down and 832 up. I guess I am still on 20:1 contention as originally ordered - but sometimes I wonder!

Anyway, time has come for me to leave PlusNet (I am having VPN problems to a couple of offices on Zen, so I want to move to Zen too, to keep thing as simple as possible).

However, I notice that Zen (and PlusNet and others) now never quote contention. Are 20:1 services still available, or is it all 50:1 now?

Also PlusNet don't seem to quote upsteam speeds. Zen only quote up to 448kb. Is this true? Am I really likely to lose upstream speed (that will be a pain for my remote desktop connections).

Any info on the current ADSL state of play appreciated. It looks to me like we are going backwards!

The 832 upload speeds are on "office" products. Zen do them if you look at Medium/Large Business products.

Basically, contention has been replaced by acceptable speeds, on the office products they are double the level on the home products.
