Moved house on the 1st of this month, having given plusnet more than a weeks notice of the moving date, address and new telephone number, but still no broadband. At this rate (and given that its a bank holiday weekend) it looks like we'll be a whole month with no broadband, yet I notice we're still being charged for it! How long does it normally take?

Probably a BT issue... Have you raised a ticket... and ask for refund for down period.

glad I could make you smile...
They usually are a BT issue, unless PN have ballsed the order. or BT have cancelled in error and PN havent noticed. I have seen that happen.
Raise a ticket - or call and ask for current status. 3 weeks and increasing is not acceptable. Let us know their answer.

I'm not disagreeing with your opinion. However in the interests of balance I would probably have said, "It's possibly a BT issue".

I based the opinion on the proportion of cases I have seen not for any Pro-PN reason.
Broadband generally works fine once installed, but once you go to a cease and reprovide you can wonder if you'll ever be reconnected.
Op needs to chase via ticket/telephone/PM

Our took about a month, again ordered in time or so I thought. Plusnet did refund when asked and I'm not sure who was at fault. BT did give dates that just weren't honoured as far as I was concerned. I think it was probably a bit from both sides and those bank holidays really seem to mess things up

Thanks for the thought Paul... but no argument here (for a change) wincgo raised an ironic smile at my first post, I then justified why I had that opion which was based on the facts I have encountered and not any blind pro or anti pn entrenchement.

O no he's not
In all seriousness this thread is about the OP. Cease/reprovides are notoriously problematic and should be chased through. Problems/Misunderstandings are regular between ISP and BTW accross most ISPs and it is an area that needs great improvement. If OP has no joy with PN let us know and we'll help as best as we can.

Nope just fed up of the constant battles between you two and passing comment.... I know you will never admit that there was the intent in your post to wind up Paddy so there's no point in carrying on with this discussion......back to the topic

Just received a new date from plusnet - June 1st (so it looks like my prediction of a whole month was right). They reckon its a BT problem, and the fact that the line has gone dead for a day this week with no warning or explanation (good job we didn't need to dial 999) would appear to support this. Incidentally, its taken me over 25 minutes just to read this thread and reply - dialup sucks!!!

stop trying to stir it up

Hooray - we now have broadband. A BT van with cherry picker was spotted trying to turn around half way up our (very steep) driveway this morning, which would appear to further support the 'BT problem' explanation. Not sure why there should have been a problem though, as the previous occupant had broadband with no difficulties.

Glad to hear youve had some progression. Funny how BT react quickly to a voice fault... but not BBand

Afternoon all.
You're all welcome to drop me a line with any ongoing provisioning saga;s and I'll be happy to look into them.
This blog posting I made this morning may also help provide a little information into why these kind of delays do occur:
