Migration Complete - What now

[link to this post]

Just come home tonight to discover that my broadband wasnt working, so I tried my new orange username which worked so I`m assuming my migration is complete.

My question is, do I need to do anything now?? If I log into the plusnet portal with my username and password, it still says I`m on broadband your way at

Let PlusNet know you have migrated as they may continue billing you if they are not told. Change your DNS servers?

When you are clear of PN, i.e. all bills paid and/or refunds made, instruct them to remove all your personal/payment details from their systems.

Unless they want to stay on PAYG for a little while while they transfer they're email, if they ever used their PlusNet addresses But yeah, not bad advice for once you're completely clear, although I'm not sure how much I'd trust them in any assertions of having removed info..

If the OP has been moved from PAYG back to a broadband package I'd ask what's going on as it sounds a bit odd. As others have said you will need to confirm the migration has taken place as sometimes they won't pick up on this.

My problem with that is that I am still keeping a domain name with them, and I also still want to be paid all my referral payments.

I think if you ask PlusNet to keep the info safe, you can be pretty sure they'll destroy it.

In which case I'd raise a ticket to make sure they know the migration has completed successfully and make it clear you want to remain on a PAYG account.

Fair comment. By the use of the word 'all' I assume you must have several referrals. It's an interesting concept that PN have adopted, in that you retain payments even when you cease to be a customer. They are in effect subsidising you use of an alternative ISP. Long may it reign

Maybe a fairer way would be if the refer left PN then the person would was referred now gets the credit off his or her bill.

But the entire point of the referral l scheme in it's latest incarnation is for people to do the marketing for PlusNet. Even if you've never had anything to do with PlusNet you can still advertise on their behalf and get paid for it. They were even offering holidays and other prizes for referrals last year. I can't seem them changing things or diverting from an approach which form what they've stated in the past has been very successful for them.
