Plusnet broadband phone

[link to this post]

I'm thinking of transferring from Metronet PAYG to Plusnet, and taking my BT phone service to their Home Phone as well.
I note they also offer broadband VoIP phone, along with suitable software to use it from the PC.
Any comments on the product, good and bad?
Am I correct in thinking it will only work whilst the computer is switched on?
There's talk of being able to use a 'normal' phone on it with some suitable hardware.
What's the 'suitable hardware' and is it easily obtainable?
Is it possible to use a DECT cordless phone, or is it just wired phones that connect to the suitable hardware?

You won't need to have the PC switched on but you'll need to buy an ATA or a VoIP compatible router (if you've already got a normal router an ATA is the easiest way to go).

ATA = Analog Telephone Adapter - you just set it up and plug in a normal phone.

One of these will do the trick.
