Packet shaping not as expected.

I've noticed that not all things are packet shaped as expected and how the current packet shaping doesn't make sense.

For example
  • Web pages always allowed full line speed when web would work fine with 2Mbps.
  • iPlayer, even though it uses p2p to download the programs they get full speed and bring web browsing to a stand still.
  • Streaming video, only 1Mbps HARD cap at peek times, that's fine for youtube but for Apple's HD movie trailers it is really annoying.

Now it would make more sense if there wasn't hard speed caps but speed sensitive activities were given higher priority than say back ground downloads like iPlayer.

Well I guess I shouldn't complain at least it's not O2 dial-up LLU any more. Just wanted to point out that it doesn't work quite as expected.

As I remember wasn't the O2 Canterbury problem fixed by upgrades just after you left? No throttling there tongue.

I'm quite happy to pay £17.50/month for around 13.5Mb/1.4Mb (down/up) with no download limits or traffic shaping.

To be fair to 5km, he stuck it out from November I think. Just he cracked with only a fortnight to go.

No it's £19.55 and is miles better than O2.

Some people just have no patience.

3 months of dial-up speeds with upgrade dates always moving and O2 not giving clear and truthful answers when questioned about realistic upgrade dates. They couldn't even confirm that the upgrade would happen a couple of weeks before it finally did. That would be enough to provide anyone that wants to use their Internet connection to leave.
