I asked a question with the Plusnet live website chat, to be told that the person I was chatting with could only do new sales and couldn't check my actual hardware delivery status (which was showing as awaiting). I mentioned this was a new sale, since I was not yet with Plusnet broadband, to be told to dial an 0845 number. I asked for a freephone or for someone to call me, to which I was told this was the only number for customer service. I also asked why I had to call separately when the chat rep is part of Plusnet and I need to do the chasing for something that is not my problem. Politely I thanked the lady who apologised for having to follow the company policy (and bless, this IS the decent and right thing to do - kudos to her, so don't stamp down on this Plusnet). Instead, I emailed customer services (I shouldn't have to pay to chase this up), and have yet not received any human response. A check on the order status page this evening says my hardware is now dispatched, but has no tracking reference number leading me to believe it has not actually been sent, and won't arrive tomorrow.
I am now at the point where I will likely have broadband tomorrow and no ADSL 2 capable router (I have an old ADSL 1 router), so essentially I will have paid for broadband I cannot start using and paid for the delivery of a router that will not turn up on time, and will be without broadband for at least a day - not exactly just a few hours of disconnection, and a nuisance for my ebay auctions and house moving details I'll need to make other arrangements to check.
How do I claim back partial expenses, i.e. a refund for the X days I do not have access to Plusnet broadband until the router arrives and has anyone else had this experience - what did you do?
