IP Profile wasn't mentioned - orbrey will have poked the PN profile (a.k.a Current line speed as shown on the portal) and that frequently needs thePPP session to be restarted to pick up changes, as do changes to the traffic management profile.

Which makes the idea of holding copy IP Profiles (aka Line Speed) which Plusnet and Enta do even more silly. I haven't heard of any other ISP that does this. An unnecessary frequent point of failure.
I know the reason for it is something to do with using a fraction lower within the servers to prevent queuing at the DSLAM, or something like that, but if it is so useful by now all ISPs both BTW and LLU would be doing it. For them the TCP/IP system seems to work fine without it.
That's quite apart from the IP Profile system itself ....
