Plusnet + Thomson 585v7 in bridge mode = possible?

[link to this post]

I'm getting crazy with Plusnet, been with Be for long time, now moving offices where Be is not available, PlusNet has exact same equipment as Be - Thomson 585v7 routers, only in ASDL mode (up to 8 mbps) not in ADSL2+ like Be does. Not important..

Main problem - does anyone know how to set this device in Bridge mode (No-NAT)?

When I run Plusnet router It has 3 presets: "Plusnet", "Magadshafish", "Other", not sure which one to choose, whichever I choose it also asks for IP address for this router.

Got block of static IP addresses from them, when I ask techsupport - "can you help me to set it up?" - they all say "we are not trained to do that", why did you give me block of IPs? - "because you asked us to do so".

Someone told me to reflash it with Generic firmware 8.2.6.5 (not sure if i'm sorrect here), which I did, dont know where to get generic template now and what settings to use....
Where do I go from here?

Set up is this:
1 Thomson 585v7
1 Switch/or Hub 8 ports
5 PCs
all connected via ethernet cable
block of static IPs ready to be used on these PCs

Be's router has preset for bridge mode, they also give you all details, these guys don't for some reason.
I'm not very literate with computers but thought gateway is still neccessary for this.
Plusnet gives subnet mask 255.255.255.240
gateway they say use 192.168.1.254 (but this one is grey isnt it?)
got dns addresses - not a problem, but it's just not working.
Can someone please help? Thanks!

Hi

When I run Plusnet router

Do you mean the cd?

You do not need to do that......... configure it by logging into the web interface of the router
http://192.168.1.254

Download the manual for the thomson and see if that help you.

It should give you the dafault username and password for the router as well.

If the Be router is not locked to Be it's 99.9% certain it will work on Plusnet - so why not do that?

I've tried this http://beusergroup.co.uk/technotes/index.php?title=P...
with changing
add name=pvc_bridge addr=0*101
in to
add name=pvc_bridge addr=0*38

Doesnt work...

Maybe a silly question, but why do you need static IPs on the PCs? Do you want to connect to them individually from outside the office?

I find the following confusing as well:-
Someone told me to reflash it with Generic firmware 8.2.6.5 (not sure if i'm sorrect here), which I did, dont know where to get generic template now
You say you have flashed it with a generic template, then say you don't know where to get a generic template?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

Apologies, I havent had much sleep ;( Yes idea for whatever reason is to have them accessible directly from outside the office and set IP manualllly individualy on these pcs.

Someone told me to:
1) reflash firmware to latest one (to get rid of Plusnet templates and also firmware bugs)
2) run setup wizard, which I tried but dont know what settings to use, there is two for WAN ip ranges and all require static IPs for the router itself (dont know why)

What is the best solution here? Firmware is latest, shall I just download BeThere template from their website, change passwords, VPI/VCI and try Wizard with Bridge mode?

The router has to have an IP address.

Still don't know how to set it up, tried different templates (including those from BE) - it wont work.
Called techsupport again - they sent me Thomson Command line interface pdf and told to "figure it out for myself". It is DEFINITELY company policy not to help in this particular cases.
Thinking of switching ISP, why should I pay for this..

Is this thread any use?

Or this one looks a bit more comprehensive.
