I ran a speed test 30 mins or so ago, and got a lousy downstream speed,3Mbps or less, but upstream and pings fine on both speedtest.net and thinkbroadband. Both wireless and wired.
Rebooted and no change. IP Profile is fine, Plusnet Current line speed is fine.
Ran the BT Test and speedtest.net again (wireless) after typing that and got a proper speed.
Anyone else notice anything odd?

during the past month low speed complaints have risen on plusnet, even after the BTw fixes.
Also bizzarely is people reporting upstream congestion which simply shouldnt be happening on xDSL services, I had upstream congestion last week until I gateway hopped and it went back to normal.
was your speedtest ipv6 or ipv4?

I'm glad I wasn't imagining it!
Last week my friend and I were transferring a file. He's on Sky ADSL 15Mb and I was struggling to get a throughput of 5Mb to him...
Thanks

Speedtest.net looked like IPv4, tbb is IPv6.
Normally mine is fine. I don't think it was anything to do with what other people have experienced. Just a blip. As I said, it has gone back to normal.

Linx has had some major problems today, around the time you report...
Could be related and won't have affected all routes.

I've just run a diagnostic check and can't see anything obvious. Give me a shout if you notice any problems with this again RobertoS.

My measured download speeds have more than halved in the last couple of weeks. I used to get full speed or slightly below, consistently, 24/7. Now I do well to get in the 30s. I can't see any reason for it, my IP profile and Plusnet line speed are 69.8Mbps. Upload speed is unaffected at 18-19Mbps. Shall I raise a ticket for this?

Here it is, absolutely terrible. I used to get 60+ all the time.
Here's one from before it went wrong - OK, not quite 60+ but my IP profile was lower then.

Yeah, raise a ticket and ask Plusnet why they're throttling your connection.

OK, I might not word it quite like that

I suspect one of the gateways is playing up. Have you tried a PPP restart, with a few seconds delay?

I even swapped the router out and back again yesterday and it made no difference. The gateway seems to have changed both times due to the change in ping time on the BQM. But I agree, it's worth trying again. Still a fault, whatever.

Adam - FYI I have just run the troubleshooter and raised question 84595663. Changing gateways makes no difference (currently on ptw-ag04).

Well that's a bit of a puzzle. Following Plusnet's instructions and connecting direct to the modem to eliminate the router the BT speed test gives me 65.88Mbps and the TBB test this. But I've already tried two routers, maybe I should try yet another. My Samknows box results confirm that the problem started on 7th April. I guess I'll have to isolate bits of my network: switches, Samknows box, routers, to see where the problem lies.

In which case which Ethernet cable did you use? The one from computer to router, or the one from router to modem?

It was the same cable I had previously used to connect the computer to the router (via the Samknows box, which may or may not be an issue). I have also just realised that the date things started to go wrong was the date I last updated the modem firmware, but as it's fine connected directly to the modem I don't see how that can be an issue. Anyway, back connected through the router and I'm back here again.
Edit: Aha! It's the flippin' Samknows box. How did that happen?
Further edit: So, I power cycle the Samknows box, re-connect it and bingo! I feel I've sent Plusnet on a wild goose chase.

Hmmm. Sort of.
I don't like the graph shapes in either direction, and look at the latencies.

I don't like to read to much into a single test, I'll do some more tomorrow. Latencies can vary wildly from test to test at the best of times.

I have a feeling something is not right with SamKnows (or my SamKnows router is on its last legs). A few weeks back I started getting really low graphs on SamKnows and tried to diagnose a line fault. Turned out a reboot of the SamKnows box fixed it. Now, I have noticed that for the last week it hasn't done any speedtests but the router is clearly still running as all my connections are through it and the Internet itself is fine.
Getting to the point where I may well decide to disconnect the box as it is messing about too much.

Yes, I wonder whether it's worth it as well, after all it's not primarily for my benefit. I'll try to get onto Samknows about it. And sorry for hijacking this thread, I realise my issues have nothing at all to do with the OP.

Mine recently stopped reporting as well and needed a reboot.
Edit: Which version of the SamKnows box do people have? Mine's a black LinkSys WRT160NL.

Mine's a white TP-LINK TL-WR741ND. It continued reporting throughout the time it was crippling my download speed, which is kind of ironic.

Same as yours. I have been on the programme for quite a while now and am beginning to wonder if it is still worth it to me - maybe I have paid my dues now.
