Broadband speeds dropped due to MSO! Advice plz?

Hey, not typed on here for along time but just had to come to see what you thought of this. In 2019 I went back to Plusnet from the dreaded Origin company, I got 78mb with Plusnet, in 2020 my speed dropped to 65mb and then 58mb but I wasn’t one to complain as my Gaming was still good.

The other day in Sheffield there was a MSO ‘Major Service Outage’, Noticed abit of lagging during my Game play on Xbox and PlayStation and even some websites on pc slow. My speeds are now 43mb, 45mb, on various speed tests. Spoken to Plusnet and she said my profile had dropped and she raised it up, she told me to reset the Router and try and connect again, I did all that and the speeds have still never gone up.

Not sure what’s happened but can a MSO do this and will I get my speeds back? Plusnet have said because I’m higher than 40mb there’s nothing that can be done, yet I’m paying for Fibre Extra, but the Standard one is up to 40MB. I’m on Fibre Extra and getting just 3mb, 5mb more.

What could I do? I did try putting the Plusnet router on to test the speeds there but it’s the same as my own intermediate Modem Router.

Been looking at other ISP’s, but Plusnet have been great to be fair, but it’s these speeds and stuff, but if I was to leave I would need a Static IP address.

Any advice appreciated.

We need to see line stats. But beware of doing loads of reconnects as those can screw you up.
