PUG Posts

I have noticed an increasing amount of spam from the Plusnet User Group on this forum, ie the e-mail sticky at the top and also now another post spamming for feedback.

PUG is an *unofficial* website for Plusnet subscribers but it seems they have obtained privilages on this forum to spam at will.

As the ADSLGuide FAQ states; "We do not allow users to post advertisements or commercial solicitations on our forums." As far as I can see the PUG posts are advertising for feedback on their site.

Would people be happy if I started spamming here for subscriptions to Pissnet, another *unofficial* Plusnet forum or do PUG get special dispensation?

If PUG are to continue to spam here, at least put PUG in the subject field so I can ignore the thread.

That is incorrect, they have NOT obtained privilages as you put it

Want to complain then the procedure for doing this is in the FAQ's of the BBS

When posts from other sites are discussed here, it`s stopped. The reason given is the other place is the correct place to discuss. As far as the PUG site is concerned it is a closed shop, PN customers only.

Yet PUG is permitted to tout here for assistance. I wonder why, is it because this site has a wider readership than PUG???.

I think if PUG wish to appeal for assistance here, they should allow free debate for all on their own site.

Maybe they are here to fill the void left by the PN reps leaving in a huff. It could be that PN is asking PUG users nicely to post PR-friendly material on here They certainly have been jumping in on adslguide like never before since the paid-employees walked.

I agree with your points. You are spot on IMO but its upto the site operators to apply their rules as they deem fit.

Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.

PUG is one of a few channels left open to Plusnet users to get resolution, do you want us to BAN all posts by members of PUG? How about posts that are critical of PUG too?

If everyother posts turns into a PUG post, and ends up in end-users not getting their posts seen then we will do something, but at present the main problem is those complaining. Going on the number of posts from users with problems at today, a lot of people are looking like characters from a Victor Meldrew episode.

Is this an Official Support Forum???. PN has decided it wants customers to contact them via the "question" system. Who are you to decide differently. If members wish to post about problems here, they will be helped by other members, PUG or otherwise.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it is incorrect.

If you look at the volume of posts a couple from PUG, (and by PUG I mean official ones rather than just posts by members of PUG) then these are a lot fewer than the posts from those saying they shouldn't be allowed to post, or that is the inference of what they are saying.

Really I am getting to the point where it seems no-one is interested beyond the chance to score points against other parties.

That`s your opinion but it`s incorrect. If you construe asking a question as scoring points, again you are incorrect.

This is a forum for members of ADSLGuide first and foremost. It`s NOT an official or unofficial support forum for ANY ISP. I`m sure no one has any issues with PUG members posting as members of this board.

The grey area is when they post in an official PUG capacity requesting members to go to the PUG forums. The sole purpose of doing so is to stifle debate on their activities in here.

As Pod said earlier would you permit him to post requesting members go to his site???.

I think you need to balance the rights of members of ADSLGuide to query any post, over the interests of a self elected usergroup.
