I received this from one of Plusnet staff today:-

Interleaving is switched on automatically (within minutes) when someone raises an intermittent fault report via our support system... If you think about it, if you need to turn interleaving on, it is because you have some sort of fault (even if that is classed as "My line occasionally drops").

So there is effectively options to turn it on and off (Auto is broken), but I think this costs us a fiver a time, so thats why you can't just keep turning it on / off with a switch.


Could be this is the reason why ISP's do not provide this option, and would also explain why Plusnet are not willing to have people switching interleaving themselves, it would be an expensive option if this is the case and it was being switched on/off at random.

I got interleaving switched off for free on an IP Stream connection. Maybe my ISP paid
