"Seem to be getting a lot of disconnections tonight - anyone else having difficulties?"

I'm not sure if your problems are caused by the problem PN are having with Tiscali LLU or because their network is running hot. Is your ADSL kit losing sync? If so, that's the Tiscali problem. If not, then PN are blaming people (ab)using encrypted p2p clients. Basically, those folks are using up a lot of bandwidth in the gold queue. They think they'll have a fix applied to their Ellacoya traffic management platform soon.

They're having more email difficulties too.

I'm on it and haven't been disconnected, BUT I do think PlusNet are overstretched/at capacity at the moment. It'd seem they've got problems with too much traffic/latency/full queues. Surely it's time they added yet more segments to the network, even though customer growth isn't what it used to be, and they've shifted tons of people to LLU - fact is usage is growing in all of the traffic management bands (gold, silver, bronze) and it's got to the point where the traffic queues aren't just queues but they've turned in to gridlock.

That sounds like you're using a Tiscali LLU connection. If you want to confirm that then raise a ticket via the portal and ask customer services if you've been moved to Tiscali.

PN classify all traffic on their network into different queues. Gaming is usually gold/silver with the likes of HTTP. p2p and usenet are normally bronze. In response to ISP traffic shaping some p2p clients are now using encryption to bypass the controls and so they are jumping into the gold queue. ISPs are fighting to catch up and the current problems you are seeing are likely because of the folks using encrypted p2p traffic on the PN network. In short, there is not enough space for your gaming traffic.

I thought the Tiscali LLU problem was losing the PPP connection whilst remaining in sync?
FWIW I have an open (well its been closed by a rep now aargh) ticket about a similar losing sync problem, though my problem is very intermittant and only seems to affect me in the evenings (about twice a week).
