Slow connections

[link to this post]

Are PlusNet going to do anything about the slow connections that we're getting? I know it's not affecting all users, and the Service Status post recently (might have been yesterday) said about the centrals being unbalanced currently, but surely they need to do something about it because they still seem the same way.

Speed tests on the BT Speedtester via the BT Speedtest login are fine, yet an ADSLguide test via thn-ag1 was:

Speed Test Results
Downstream 569.7 Kbps ( = 0.6 Mbps )
Upstream 362.3 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

After a reconnect I was on ptn-ag2 and got first hop pings of 37ms+ (usually 12 or 13) but speeds were much better (although still far from great)

Speed Test Results
Downstream 3,305.8 Kbps ( = 3.2 Mbps )
Upstream 374.1 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

Also, the portals seem to be running slow again this afternoon, whilst other sites seem "fine". Is PN just overstretched or what?

I thought I had a BRAS problem but your report gave me hope.
Results on thn-ag1 were all between 256 - 512 kbps (stable rate 3000 kbps)
BT speedtester 2617 kbps - best result ever
Rebooted and now on ptn-ag2 speed test 1911 kbps - not as good as BT speedtest but much better.

hi,

Had a similar issue earlier, ran a namesco speed test (which normally registers 4500ish) and got around 250.....was downloading an http file at 13kb/s so i rebooted the router and re ran the test and got 3500....

Daft but yet another problem with plus net....have requested my MAC as had enough now and there are plenty of other alternatives.

Darren
