Re: Can anybody explain this usenet problem?

When you say the same realm... My username is [email protected] and his is [email protected]. Is this the realm thing?

He logs on at his house with @plusdsl.net for his account (I'm waiting for him to get back to me about how he logs on to mine) but that won't work at my house. Here both accounts have to be accessed with @plus.net.

I'm probably expecting too much from a usergroup that doesn't have people in the know from within PN. Maybe it's better to ignore my original question.

Here's a better way to put it - is it possible to get on newsdemon if you have a broadband plus account? I know that with 100%proofnews it was possible to get a plus account to work on ports 21 and 25 but that is very slow and kept cancelling my account for no reason.

Please feel free to give any further or alternate advice.

Quoting James Bailey from here:

As long as the service is with PlusNet yes.

And the realm (@plusdsl.net) is the same.

Kind Regards,

If you want to get a definitive answer to your original question then I'd advise you go to the Plusnet User Group forum as the Plus.net reps still have a presence over there:

With a correctly configured line you should both only be able to logon to your own accounts at each house (BT have been known to incorrectly configure lines in the past though).

With the Plus accounts, P2p and NNTP are heavily shaped as those accounts are not really designed for that kind of usage.

iirc broadband plus is fairly heavily shaped on binary usenet.
