Why you might choose PN...

[link to this post]

OK, I know that PN may not stand out as an ISP to choose any more in terms of price, speed, stability or customer support. However, having just moved away from PN, I notice two things that may be helpful to a potential customer:

The first is the Fax2email service. I used this a little bit when at PN but am not aware of any/many other ISPs providing this as a free add-on. It also looks quite pricey when I look around for companies (often not ISPs) that can provide this service

The second is the email inbox allowance. I could stand corrected here but I think PN allow for 100Mb of inbox space which think is a lot more than many other ISPs (?usually around 20Mb) - if you get lots of large emails then this may be the difference.

These two features were not enough to convince me to stay when compared to other issues but I think it fair to say that I do miss them a bit.

You can get Fax2Email services for free out there on the internet.

PN are also known to provide a complimentary purge service to ensure you have maximum inbox space available Also their email platform is not known to be the most stable or reliable. What use is 100Mb email when messages are either inaccessible or going missing (as has been reported on here several times)

Fair enough, I'm certainly not here to defend PN given that I already took the choice to migrate. I just thought it worth mentioning.

I saw one or two allegedly 'free' Fax2email providers but there was usually a hidden catch somewhere!

Fax2Email is a very nice add-on - as long as you do receive a fax often enough to stop the number being withdrawn and issued to someone else.

I found that Plusnets speed is relatively high usually, and I can regularly get twice the peak speed on Plusnet than I did during my brief time at Eclipse earlier this year. I don't use P2P at all and only use usenet during off peak hours though so that may have something to do with it.
