Moving house - simultaneous provide that worked

[link to this post]

Moved house yesturday and this morning the ADSL was up and working. It may have been working yesturday but only plugged the router in today. Not what I was expecting at all.

In case it helps anybody else out trying to move house with PN then this is what I did. Have a read of this as well (http://usergroup.plus.net/simprovideorders.php). I think I didn't follow it closely enough, which resulted in some problems for me.

Raised ticket with PN asking for a simultaneous provide order. They gave me a reference number to give to BT.

Spoke to BT asking for a sim provide order and giving the ref no and name of ISP. They then gave me a reference No. in return.

Gave the BT ref No to PN but they could not find the order on BT wholesales system. After anumerous calls to both BT and PN I cancelled the whole thing with BT and started again.

This time I asked BT for a sim provide but this time there was no mention of a ref No. from the isp. They gave me a new ref No to give to PN.

PN found the order on BT wholesale system with this ref no and that was that. It seems that PN expect BT retail to set the order up on the BT wholesale system first.

I have to say I am very impressed that it all worked.

That is good news but people should be warned that this procedure can be fraught with difficulties and PN are not the only ISP that face this problem.

The other thing to bear in mind is that ~PN charge a new activation either upfront or deferred of

Your lucky you could get through to PN.

PN have completely messed up my move, they didn't process as simultaneous, they kept putting my issue on hold without contacting me to say there was problems and didn't bother chasing BT. I'm still waiting after 3 weeks.
