What speed does the BT speedtester say your line is set to? (http://speedtester.bt.com) THe tester can be run from your Plusnet connection in this instance as you are looking for the profile setting BT currently have you on (although they may not as you are still within the 10 days).
Basically in the first 10 days you could get any speed, and you should really only reboot the router once a day if possible. 10 times a day is risking the BT kit knobbling your connection as it thinks your line isn't capable of handling the conneciton at the SNR you have. It then increases yout SNR and starts slowing your connection.

Whats your sync speed?

Speeds are quite often stuck at 2 meg even if your syncing at 2-8meg speeds from anything up to 14 days but normally they kick in after a few days.

I f you have been maxed, I would not worry about anything until at least 10 days have passed, try not to keep turning your router on and off, the best speed possible will be attained during this period.

ScaryMonkey - I've tried http://speedtester.bt.com a dozen times before and it never works for me. It either gives me a TAP1 error or just sits there doing nothing, after the blue progress bar moves about one-thrid across. I note that page says "if you are operating a Virtual Private Networking (VPN) you will not be able to use the Performance Tester for throughput testing due to the Address Proxy function, which is almost " - I use a 4 port router connected to another couple of computers in the house - perhaps this would be classed as a VPN?

UKSMS - Is sync speed the same as 'ADSL Status'? If so, my router says "Up Speed 448000, Down Speed 8128000" Does this help?

So if I were to switch my router off in the morning before going to work, and back on when I get in from work, but leave it on the rest of the time, would this cause me problems?

I switched off overnight, then on this morning, and then back off before leaving for work, as I thought that was a good idea.

I was upgraded yesterday.

Certainly don't want any undue problems, so should I start leavign it on 24/7 as usual?


EDIT: Just noticed the following on the PlusNet website actually advising you switch the kit off:

Tests are carried out during this period to see what speed your line can support. It's important that you frequently make new connections to the Internet during this 10 day period so these tests can take place.
