Plusnet as an ISP have some outstanding staff, just poor management (imho)

I would say they are probably better than Tiscali and Talk Talk - but are closely going to get a reputation like both of them.=, unless they change things around for the benefit of their customers.

I was with TalkTalk believe me you have to go a long way to get as bad as them. If you look in the TalkTalk forums here you will see what I mean. Having said that they may have improved since I left in November to come to Plusnet.

Been with plusnet and talktalk and at the time i found talktalk to be worst on 2 counts,
Speed
Cs
But after doing a compare on this site , it seem that talktalk is slighty better for speed than plusnet , then plusnet is slighty better than talktalk for reliability and Cs but only slighty better , and there a lot of customers have rated on both..

Plusnet aren't without their faults, but overall, I don't get many problems, and feel I get fair value for money (I'm on PAYG).

I wouldn't touch Tiscali with a bargepole. I used to use them for dialup (back in the days...). I swore I would never use them again, for anything. One of the few companies I've ever dealt with that tried my patience so badly I thought I was going to be ill. The billing was wrong, every piece of correspondence with them was mysteriously "lost" - they didn't log my calls either, and more-or-less called me a liar when I insisted it was the third or fourth time I'd called them. Apparently, if it's not in their records, it never happened - the customer must be either lying or hallucinating!

Hi,

My opinion would obviously be biased but I did find this in uk.telecom.broadband the other day that I found somewhat shocking (in a slightly amusing way)

Obviously that's not testament to the performance of the ADSL service they provide but it's pretty bad nevertheless IMO.

Kind Rgds,

I don't think those folks are from Talk Talk. I've seen similar incidents with Sky "salespeople" calling at end users properties asking them to switch over. They sound like a bunch of third party resellers up to no good.

Just to clarify: my bad experience was with Tiscali (I've just double-checked to make sure I did type that).

I've absolutely no experience with Talk Talk, although I tend to agree it's difficult to tell whether they are guilty of sharp practice or not, based on these anecdotal reports. It's true that two people going round knocking on doors could claim to be anyone. They may not necessarily have been bona fide Talk Talk reps, but any bunch of cowboys: a bit like those people who come and offer to tarmac your drive! I never buy any goods or services at the door, for that reason. You don't really know who they are, or what you're getting.
