To reiterate.

Simon, you have always been at your best when dealing with fact and not assumption.

Anything less than fact looks like stirring, conjecture and grasping at straws - which I know you don't need to do!

Fact: New capacity is coming on-line RSN

Fact: Vision or equivalent hasn't been announced yet. The earliest it will come in would be with the product refresh due in April (May?)

Are you suggesting that having installed the new pipe it's going to sit there unused?

You do talk some rubbish at times, but this really takes the biscuit! Shame because you are capable of delivering good advice and insight at times.

As soon as PlusNet tell their BB+ customers why their product has been consciously destroyed by its provider - leaving aside the specious argument that those customers are using more data since PN's own stats show otherwise - then my theory will be disproved. As things stand it is put forward as simply a possible explanation of the facts to date that we do know about. If you, or anyone, has a better explanation (or sound reasons why my theory is unfounded), I'm all ears. And by all means call it a "conspiracy" theory if it suits your agenda to do so - but it is simply a theory, and a reasonably logical one, which I wanted to discuss in the absence of any other logical explanation.

BT Vision and the BB+ issues are different I believe, thats the conclusion from looking on the outside.

People are always free to speculate that BT Vision is around the corner, but until a firm date is set I think people should hold off. Very little of the VoD content is free, and use of assured rates is made when content is booked, so if you dont have a connection up to the rate needed for some content it should be feasible for you to be warned. In theory as the device has a PVR it may be possible for the V box to download at less than viewing speed for later viewing.

Understood -- but there could well be a connection between the impending launch of PN Vision and the BB+ shenanigans.... not least the possibility that BT may have pointed out to PlusNet that rather few of their 70,000 BB+ customers have been enjoying anything like the necessary assured rate to be counted as a potential Vision customer. And of course, BT want all of PN's customers to be potential Vision customers.

I think it should be the case of dissing the service once it launches, rather than playing doom monger,

I was discussing it, not dissing it. The only service being dissed is BB+.

In reply to:

If you check my OP, it is clearly speculation on my part

I disagree (now there's a shock!)

In reply to:

If so, BB+ customers have simply been sacrificial lambs -- burnt at the altar without warning or compensation

...but if not? Your speculation (if you want to call it that) is always one sided. Perhaps you should speculate both sides of the coin. Sounds like more bashing tbh.
