My family and friends are pretty close to all of this can't get through on the phone to some of them, lines probably flooded.

we had our own share in the SE but not on this scale.

It's good to hear that people are fighting it with good Yorkshire fortitude, even if they are in Devon and even if only bused into Sheffield, when any ran.

It can't be easy getting to work in those conditions, more than one of you must be worried about the possible impact of this flooding on your homes and, clearly, not without concern for your families and loved ones.

I am impressed that the service has continued uninterrupted because it would be understandable if PN basically shut up shop faced with these difficulties; I know of businesses that have closed down for the day faced with rather less.

Keep up the good work and let's hope the weathermen are right that the worst conditions are past.

I did suggest that if you have no interest in the flooding you should desist, however it appears you have only one objective and it is all about you and your needs regardless of the topic or context...or the feelings of others.

Hope all you guys are safe and sound and homes, family etc are unaffected by this dreadful weather.

We've had the "Plan B" on standby for broadband just in case, fortunately it's not been needed. I'm writing a blog post on this which I should have posted tomorrow.

With the possibility of a power outage in Sheffield we've also had full tests on the backup generators and ensured the diesel's in full supply. In case the call centre goes down we've also ensured that backup testing has been done at our secondary building in case we need to switch the support line over there (there's a set of desks set up for the CSC to take calls from).

No chance of us shutting up shop

There's certainly been some power outages in Sheffield, not sure about any major (i.e. exchange wide) phone service outages but wouldn't be surprised if there were some local ones affecting individual streets and there's a few problems on Virgin Media's cable network in the area:

Im not a Plusnet customer and got linked to this thread from another post elsewhere on these forums.

Id just like to say that Plusnet, any other company reading in flooded areas should be congratulated on still doing their best in difficult circumstances to provide services to normal everyday people like us which are typing here.

Im sure there are many disgruntled Plusnet users as well as many happy users which post here, but being happy or unhappy about something as trivial as broadband pales into insignificance to events which have occured.

Businesses and normal everyday people that remain defiant in the face of such adversity should be congratulated and encouraged to try to carry on as normally as possible.

To all the people reading that are in flooded areas like Sheffield, Yorkshire and so many more please remain safe and keep up your fighting spirit. Anyone thats faced terrible weather and conditions like that knows how depressing and dangerous it can be.

I myself and i think i speak for the rest of the country (well the sane people in it anyway ) wish you the best, hope the situation improves for you soon and above all hope no more tradgic deaths occur... All the best.
