IP profile

[link to this post]

Just had my internal wiring fixed (Friday). Was syncing at 160-1000 kbps but now at 7008 kbps
How long does IP profile take to change?

A change of that magnitude should cause a profile update with hours.

I suggest you run a BT Speed Test. That confirms your sync, tells you your profile, and does the speed test.

It sometimes happens that BT has updated your profile but the update hasn't been picked up by Plusnet Radius Server so they still have the low one. If so you need to raise a ticket - showing the BT test.

Here's the results:
Your DSL connection rate: 7008 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 116 kbps

That's bad news .

As Oldjim says, should and does are not the same.

The specification is a few hours for a high percentage jump to up to 5 days for a small increase. (The logic of that is that small changes are not worth updating quickly as they will quite likely get reversed soon after).

Several times I have had jumps from around 3000kbps to mid-6000s, and the profile has risen within 12 hours (usually overnight).

It is quite possible that the profile is stuck and you will need to raise a ticket, then they will tell you to wait the 5 days. If that happens you need to get very determined, as the system is not doing what it should.

It is also possible of course that you have had another very low sync since Friday. That would also account for it, so you need to be sure that hasn't happened.

Something like RouterStats or RouterStatsLite can graph your connection speed 24/7. DMT can as well but the time setting is critical on that and it can also stop when there is a disconnection. RouterStats just keeps going.
