Thinking of coming to plus net

[link to this post]

Hi guys Im thinking of coming over to plus.net I play a lot of wow/xbox and use ventrilo does any1 know if this is a good ISP to use for these?

I also d/l about 20 gig a month from usenet Im can do this between midnight and 8am so im guessing this is not a problem.

I aslo d/l demos and such from fileplanet and use the iplayer/youtube at peak times 6pm-00:00 how fast will these be?

my current connection with enta.net and I connect at 8mb and can d/l at 800k a second but recently the seems to have gone to hell hence me looking for a change.

You need to look at the different options and the throttling that plus net use to regulate usage.

Their cheaper packages throttle p2p/usenet A LOT and the more expensive packages less so. Depends who you ask but they may still throttle offpeak, and on the most expensive deals.

Some download sites are counted as (or nearly) p2p for throttling too. They are pretty honest about it all if you read the right pages in depth.

If you have LLU providers such as Be, O2, UKonline, Sky available then you may do better for similar or less money.

Hi Madcow,

Firstly, you shouldn't notice any difference at all in your connection speeds should you come to us, as those are determined between your router and the exchange.

If you're using Usenet during off peak times, this won't count towards your usage allowance and there wouldn't be any problem at all with doing so.

iPlayer traffic is treated as streaming on our network and as such should give good speeds. The other will generally be treated as download servers and as such would be subject to rate limits at various times of the day.

You can see here how rate limits are applied on all of our products.
