Brief outage fastest ever sync- anything changed?

I have been fiddling around with a couple of different routers, at about 12:55pm today I reconnected my (2Wire) BT1800HG, at 13:05 (according the router's log) the connection was lost due to loss of signal, it reconnected after 24 seconds syncing at 7520mbps, some 400mbps faster than I have ever had before and a 1000mbps faster than it was just beforehand.

Just wonder if any network changes caused the brief outage and higher sync?

You haven't just been fortunate enough to experience a Target noise margin drop,have you?

Figures on 10th Feb:

Line sync: 6944 kbs 448 kbs
Current Noise Margin: 9.0 dB 19.0 dB
Current Attenuation: 28.0 dB 15.0 dB
Current Output Power: 20.1 dB 12.0 dB

Today:
Line sync: 7520 kbs 448 kbs
Current Noise Margin: 4.0 dB 19.0 dB
Current Attenuation: 28.0 dB 15.0 dB
Current Output Power: 20.3 dB 12.0 dB

Same router, hmm!

Looks like a Target margin drop. Do you know what the noise margin usually is at sync? Or do you have a log?

Yep, usually between 7 and 9db, I was going to get interleaving removed though perhaps better to leave on with a 4db margin?

Seems like the Target noise margin has been reduced from 9dB, down to the lowest 6dB. It is supposed to do this if the connection is pretty stable, with few errors which means you may have had a fault at some stage, or too many re-syncs in a short space of time. The default is 6dB, rising to 9dB, then 12, and finally 15dB if you're really unfortunate with a bad line.

I would favour interleaving set to on, unless you want to play games online, and have a good low error rate.

Does look that way from the stats. 500-750kbps speed increase being the expected improvement.

So are you saying that a long period of stability followed by some resyncs could cause a target noise margin drop?

If so I wonder if the fact that I have been fiddling with different routers lately, rebooting and resyncing, could have lead to this?

The change to the margin will happen but is only noticed when you actually resync. i.e. when BT systems change the target margin they do not force a resync

Thanks. As I say I have been fiddling with four different routers (a subject in its self) strange that the change to the margin was about 10 mins after perhaps 10-15 resyncs over three hours or so.
