I've been round to his house today to look at his very very slow connection, his router stats are a lot better than mine but he's on what looks like an old 512 ASDL profile judging by the sync speeds he's got (576/288).
I've raised a ticket for him on his account, 27946000, could someone take a butchers please and let me know if i've mis-read it or if he's got the wrong profile assigned and if it can be sorted out.
He's got 2 sons on XBox live, plus 3 computers running off it, as you can probably guess it gets a bit frustrating there at times!
Cheers
Craig

Has he ever asked to be upgraded to MaxDSL? That would be something not to be done lightly, with an 18-month contract lying in wait!

Changing to MAX has nothing to do with your current contract and it will not change.
It used to be PNs policy to automatically upgrade people to MAx but that changed some time ago to a request only method. So you have to request it.

I'd mistakenly thought it was automatic. I've passed jelv's info on so hopefully that will work, as he's had a cut an paste reply from PN saying "your connection is OK, we see no problems." Obviously ignoring the fact that the issue wasn't the connection itself, it was the fact it is stuck on a 512K profile and hadnt been Max'd.

When you say 512K profile, do you mean the line connects at 512/288 saying the word profile implies that they are on a Max connection, but throttled to 0.5Meg to many people.

Well, I'm not 100% sure what it is, I'd assumed they had a 512K fixed connection and hadnt been maxed as their router stats are 576/288, yet their SNR, etc are better than my stats so should be getting 3Mb+ on it.
The thing is I have another friend on PN who lives around the corner from him that I also recommended try PN, and I suspect he's in the same boat, I'm waiting to see how this turns out before mentioning it to him too.

A quick looks shows that this is more than likely on a 512 fixed connection, I'll get an order placed to move them over to MaxDSL, this should complete in the morning.

Ok that suggests they are on Home 500 still, they need to ask for the regrade from Home 500 to Max, without mentioning profile at all.
