Seems reasonable to me. I remember when plusnet had their web building tools and they discontinued it with out warning and i was left with a web site i could not update, charming.

I'm not an expert on web hosting, but as for ISPs you can get O2/Be.

Total first year costs from £16.06 to £183. The lowest package, O2 Standard, which leaves any BT IPStream product for dead is £16.06 to £60.07 first year depending on whether you have an O2 contract mobile, O2 PAYG mobile, or no O2 mobile. (Line rental still payable to your PSTN supplier).

That should leave a fair bit for web hosting costs! See MKD's comparison of O2 and Be, particularly the stand-alone up-to-date Page 4 costings.

Bob: Demon dialup >> Freeserve dialup >> BT Broadband >> Prodigynet >> Newnet >> O2 Standard.
Purple Cloud for domain, email and web space.

Purple Cloud are Linux based, but seem (not my speciality) to support FrontPage. See this KnowledgeBase article.

That article suggests the opposite - that they *don't* support the use of FrontPage extensions. In fact the article isn't a million miles away from the one here that we linked to from the FAQ we published to accompany the emails we're sending.

As I've mentioned to you over on the Community Site stonechat, I'd strongly recommend that you take this opportunity to move away from using a proprietary software solution that Microsoft have ended support for. As you've found out from some of the suggestions that have been made in this thread, there are fewer and fewer web hosts continuing to offer support for FrontPage extensions.

Is that not because it is now obsolete and microsoft no longer make it or up date it since 2006. Plenty of alternatives that are free with surpass

The most recent version of the FrontPage server extensions are from way back in 2002. Microsoft discontinued support for FrontPage in 2006.

You are completely correct. I hadn't checked Purple Cloud fully before posting as I knew they did support FrontPage Extensions.

Since posting I have had a better look and fully agree with you that the OP should look into alternatives to FPE.

I suggest http://www.tsohost.co.uk/ for BB independent web hosting. Cant see front page in the line up though.
