Thanks James and Plusnet ;)

Just wanna say a big thanks to James and the rest of the Plusnet Team. My phone line and broadband moved to the new house yesterday without any hitches whatsoever!!

Only problem is that the line has sync'd at 8128 but am only getting 0.5 meg on speedtests! I guess this is just as the line is being trained?

I notice that overnight, my profile has gone up from 2000 to 7000 so things must be looking up! Only bad thing is that my attenuation at this new house has gone up to 29!! I've got the router plugged in on an extension (cat5e) until the powerpoint is sorted by the master socket so hopefully this will have an impact on Attenuation?

Attenuation won't be affected much by the extension but 29 should still give you a full speed sync. One thing to check is the number of errors you get. It's almost certain that you will have been provisioned with interleaving on which will cut back your speed a little. If you get very few errors you could ask for interleaving to be turned off (but probably only after the 10 days).

Your speed shown at https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate should go up within 12 hours of the IP Profile going up and you should then see the faster speeds.

Assuming he's on ADSL Max then he is already on the maximum so nothing to be gained by turning interleaving off (if it's on) unless he is a gamer. In fact with interleaving I reckon throughput at any given sync is higher.

Drop me a PM with your username and I'll check your profile at our end.

I suspect ours hasn't caught up with the BT one.

That's why I said to check the errors. If he's getting errors interleaving will help, if he isn't interleaving is of no benefit.

And neither is it any harm for non-gamers tongue. There are bound to be errors at some level at some time even if few.

Can you try rebooting now please?

Now that the IP Profile has changed a reboot might be needed to kick things in to life.

Hi JAmes

Not up at the house at the moment but phone the old man and he has rebooted it for me - or rather turned it off at the wall and back on again wink

Will check it out at lunchtime and do a speed test and report back

Cheers
