Slow speeds during training period

[link to this post]

Hi all

I moved house 3 days ago and got a new line and brought my broadband with me. I am now on day 3 of the training period and am still getting download speeds of no greater than 1.5meg.

The router is sync'd at 8128 and has been all the time. In the portal and according to BT Speedtester, IP Profile is 7150 and the Speedtester also says I should be capable of 7meg but I have yet to see anything higher than 1.5meg. My SNR is 18 and Attenuation in 30 so that should be fine.

Is this normal during the 10-day training period? I am sure when I moved to max that the speeds were much higher during this time.

Thanks

It's not abnormal.

Sometimes it takes us awhile to receive a delta report from BT (which is what's happening in your case). This is normally done within the first 5 days, but we can't raise a speed fault until the 10 day period has elapsed.

Does the delta report update the radius profile then james?

James,
This doesn't look like a delta report problem as
The router is sync'd at 8128 and has been all the time. In the portal and according to BT Speedtester, IP Profile is 7150

Still seeing terrible download speeds and still connected at 8128 with no disconnections and very little errors. I have not been able to download at anything faster than a meg.

Did the BT Speedtester and only got about 1.2 meg even though that and the Portal say my line profile is 7150!

Anyone know what is going on??

Have a look in the Portal under My Account/ Connection Settings/ High Speed Broadband.

If your Current Line Speed is ~ 1500 then James hasn't pushed his magic button which sets your Maximum Download Rate to be the same as the BT Profile. James may be waiting for the 10 day period to lapse and BT to set the Profile speed before he does this.

Hi Wheel_Nut

As I said above, the Portal says 7150. However, I am STILL to get anything higher than about 1.5meg on a download test including BT's!!

When I moved to Max though several years ago, I remember the 1st day or so was slow but I was up to about 7 meg after that constantly. My line stats were very much the same as the new house here too!!

I guess I have to wait til day 11 then??
